WordPress 2.5

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

A day after I added the rc3 of 2.5 to the SVN WordPress 2.5 final has been released. This update doesn’t require a manual upgrade like going from 2.3.3 to 2.5rc3 needed so just wait for cron to run for the new version. Get more information at http://wordpress.org/development/2008/03/wordpress-25-brecker/.

WordPress 2.5 RC3

Friday, March 28th, 2008

I have started to push out WordPress 2.5 rc3. This will hopefully be the final rc so I am going to try it on the svn. Since this update changes the database I need to manually run an update on each site so you might see some wierd bugs while I am doing that. You can also find a list of known working and broken plugins at http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins/Plugin_Compatibility/2.5 . If I see you have any of the broken plugins running and there is not a compatibilty fix I will disable it for you. If you have any issues let me know.

Update: I forgot to link to the feature list – http://codex.wordpress.org/Version_2.5

Switching over to WP-Super-Cache

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

I am switching over to WP-Super-Cache ( http://ocaoimh.ie/wp-super-cache/ ) and will remove WP-Cache ( http://mnm.uib.es/gallir/wp-cache-2/ ) with the release of WordPress 2.4 on January 24. You need to disable WP-Cache before then. The step to properly switch are:

1. Go to WP-Cache page under options

2. Click disable it

3. Scroll down and click Delete Cache

4. Go to plugins page and deactivate WP-Cache

5. Login to ftp and go to wp-content under your sites folder

6. Delete Cache folder and the files advanced-caching.php and wp-cache-config.php

7. Active WP-Super-Cache on plugins page

8. Under options go to WP Super Cache page

9. Click WP Cache and Super Cache enabled then Update Status

If you need any help or have any issues let me know. Also with step 6 you might not have anĀ  advanced-caching.php file.
